When he was insulted, he did not reply with insults. When he suffered, he did not threaten revenge. Instead, he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.  He carried in his own body on the cross the sins we committed. He did this so that we might live in righteousness, having nothing to do with sin. By his wounds you were healed.

PRELUDE:

GREETING:

CALL TO WORSHIP:

L: Welcome to this Lenten moment-a season when we slow down

long enough to face the truth about ourselves.

P: We come as we are- aware of our brokenness, yet hungry

     for grace.

L: Scripture tells us that all have fallen short-yet God has not turned

     away from us.

P: Instead, God met us at the cross.

L: In Jesus, God stepped into our place- bearing what we could not

carry, paying what we could not repay.

P: Through Christ’s sacrifice, mercy is given and forgiveness is

     real.

L: And now the invitation stands before us: be reconciled to God, be

    made new.

P: In Christ we are a new creation; the old has gone, the new

    has begun.

L: So come- bring your burdens, your regrets, your hopes.

P: We come to the cross, where grace is deeper than our sin. So,

today we gather to worship the God who saves.

GREETING:

CALL TO WORSHIP:

L: In the wilderness, the people grew restless. They forgot the

      goodness of God.

P: We, too have wandered. We, too, have grumbled and

       turned away.

L: Yet God, in mercy, made a way for healing.

P: When the serpent was lifted up, those who looked were

       given life.

L: In humility, Christ came among us- not grasping for power, but

      emptying Himself in love.

P: He humbled Himself, becoming obedient even to death on

       a cross.

L: Where our pride fractured communion, His obedience restored it.

P: Where we brought dishonor, He offered faithful love.

L: So in this season of repentance, we lift our eyes to the One who

      was lifted up.

P: We look and live. We bow in gratitude. We come to worship.

CROSS TALK- THE MEANING OF THE CROSS

Last week Pastor Keith began a new sermon series for the season of Lent. Throughout this series, we will focus on the cross- the central symbol of our faith and our understanding of Jesus.

Did you know the Bible contains numerous verses about the cross, and that Christians throughout history have explored many different ways of understanding its meaning and significance?

In this series, we’ll reflect on the power and wonder of the cross and discover what it means for our lives and our faith today.

Join us each Sunday during Lent or watch online anytime. This series will wrap up on Good Friday, the day in which the cross takes center stage in Jesus’ life.

CROSS TALK- THE MEANING OF THE CROSS

This weekend Pastor Keith begins a new sermon series for the season of Lent.

BUTTER BRAIDS

COMING SOON! Our youth will be selling butter braids. This is a fundraiser for youth activities, camps, and mission trips. Watch for more information and order forms- coming soon!

PRELUDE:

GREETING:

CALL TO WORSHIP:

L: The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing

P: But to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

L: The wisdom of the world seeks strength, success, and

     self-preservation.

P: But Christ calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and

    follow him.

L: For what will it profit us to gain the whole world,

P: And forfeit our very souls?

L: In this season of Lent, we turn again toward the cross.

P: We come to listen, to learn, and to be transformed.

L: God has chosen what seems weak to reveal true strength.

P: God has chosen what seems foolish to reveal true wisdom.

L: Come, then, let us worship the One who calls us to follow.

P: We take up our cross with Christ, and worship the Savior

     of the world.

Regarding financial giving, there are many ways to give; of course, there is cash or checks in the plate offering, but there is also electronic and ACH giving options. There are also non-cash giving options such as stock, grain, MRDs, other investments, and even through life insurance policies.

As we begin a new year of ministry, we know there are many options for your charitable giving dollars to go to. We believe our church is a great investment in our community and in God’s Kingdom. For more information you can talk to Craig McManus our Finance Chair.

2026 BIBLE READING PLAN

In 2025 Bishop Lanette asked us to read with her through the New Testament books of Luke and Acts. Today marks the last day of reading through that plan. For those of you who like to have a reading plan, Pastor Keith has developed a plan for 2026 in which we’ll read together through Paul’s letter, which makes up about 2/3 of the New Testament. This reading plan will take us chronologically through Paul’s letters and we’ll be reading 1-2 chapters a week. You can pick up a reading guide on the tables at each entry to the Worship Center or at the Welcome Desk by the church office.

ATTENTION MOMS!

Starting Sunday, Jan 11th, a new ministry called “Common Grounds: Downtown Moms” will begin. Moms are invited to gather for coffee, connection, and encouragement while kids are in Sunday School. No prep, no pressure- just a welcoming place to relax, breathe, and belong.

VERSE FOR REFLECTION: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (CEB)

So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!

“A CHILD IS BORN” ADVENT STUDY!

Advent will soon be here, and our focus will be on Christmas and all that it means for our lives and our faith as Christians. Our church will again be offering an Advent study to accompany our weeks of preparing and waiting for the arrival of Christmas. The study will follow the book “A Child is Born.” We will be offering two different times. The study groups will meet- Monday evenings beginning December 1st at 7pm led by Pastor Keith. The second group will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning December 3rd at 7pm led by Natalie Piel. Bishop Lanette will also provide leadership in these groups through Zoom or video links. Books are available in the church office for $15. Together let’s make this a meaning-filed Advent and Christmas Season.

Our November “One Thing” is macaroni & cheese for the Salvation Army’s Christmas baskets.

CHURCH DIRECTORY PHOTOS

Thank you to all that have stopped by to have your pictures taken for our church directory. Our “photo booth” will remain up and in place through the last Sunday in November. It is conveniently located in the chapel for easy access. So please, if you haven’t already, stop by and have your photo taken.

BISHOP’S THANKSGIVING OFFERING

This year’s Bishops Thanksgiving Offering will help support Feeding South Dakota and the Great Plains Food Bank, vital ministries that provide nourishment to thousands of our neighbors across the Dakotas. There is a donation box in the gathering area on one of the high-top tables. May your gratitude this Thanksgiving overflow into acts of grace.

COUNTY FAIR STAMPS

Love Feast needs County Fair stamps before Thanksgiving to purchase turkeys for their Christmas meal. Please drop them off at the church office. There is a basket on Tonya’s desk.

GRATITUDE AND GENEROSITY

As we enter November, may our hearts and minds begin to focus on gratitude and thanksgiving. There truly is so much that we have to be thankful for. But a part of gratitude is also generosity, our giving of ourselves because of what we have received. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be both grateful and generous- these two qualities simply go hand in hand. We will explore this theme as part of our “Faith, Hope, Love, and Life” sermon series leading up to Thanksgiving. Please join us for worship in November as we give thanks to God and also live out generosity in our daily lives and our walk of faith.

GREETING:

CALL TO WORSHIP:

L: We gather today in the presence of God, who was and is to come.

P: We come, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses-those

who kept the faith, finished their race, and now rest in

     God’s peace.

L: We give thanks for the saints who showed us the way: for prophets

who spoke truth, teachers who opened Scripture, friends who

prayed, and loved ones who lived the gospel before us.

P: Their witness reminds us that the church is not bound by time

or place- that in Christ, death does not divide but unites us

      in one body.

L: So let us lift our hearts in praise to the Lord of every generation,

whose grace was sufficient for them and is sufficient for us.

P: To God be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus, from

generation to generation, forever and ever. Amen.
