MISSION OF THE MONTH
As One Ministry
OCTOBER “ONE THING”
Our October “One Thing” is stove top stuffing for the Mitchell Area Food Pantry Thanksgiving Baskets. Our goal is to provide them with 600 boxes of stuffing.
2026 KINDNESS CAMPAIGN T-SHIRT
As our nation heads towards elections in a month, our church is once again participating in the National Kindness Campaign. This year’s T-shirt has the simple message of “Let’s Love One Another” on it. Our church name and logo appear on the back of the shirt. This shirt design fits in so well with our own Sunday School Theme; “GOAL” – Go Out And Love. To get your own T-Shirt, go to (https://www.promoplace.com/fumc/). Last day to order is at midnight on Wednesday, October 6th. Don’t wait! Order today! We will be asked to wear them to church on Sunday, November 1st.
NOISY BUCKETS
This year we have a new project for the Noisy Bucket money that is collected. The money raised will be used to sponsor a child at the school that the Haiti Alive project sponsors. It costs $200 to sponsor a child. So, for every $200 we collect Bruce Blumer will send us another picture of a child we are supporting for the 2026-2027 school year. Thank you for making this a great project…and helping children in Haiti.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CHALLENGE
Please send coins with your children to Sunday School on October 4th for our Classroom Noisy Buckets Coin Challenge. The class that brings the most coins will carry them up for Noisy Buckets on Sunday October 11th.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS INVENTORY
As we dig deeper into what Spiritual Gifts are in the current sermon series, please be sure to take the spiritual gifts inventory to discover what your gifts are. There is a QR code available with your smart phone to connect with the inventory. Or via your computer: https://www.umcdiscipleship.org/spiritual-gifts-inventory/en.
Paper versions of the inventory are available in the gathering area or in the church office. Once you know your top 5 spiritual gifts, please share them with the church office. Our desire is to help people serve in areas of their giftedness.
LOVEFEAST ANOUNCEMENTS
Love Feast has been chosen to receive 10% of sales from Gliks on Thursday, October 8th. The task force would appreciate your support.
Also, there are excess kitchen items for a free will offering in the hallway near the gathering area.
KITCHEN/DINING ROOM REMODEL PROJECT
Work has begun on the Kitchen/Dining Room Remodel. This has been a project long in coming. The work to be done includes new cabinets, floor, ceiling, lighting, walls freshly painted and textured, and some new appliances. The total project is anticipated to be around $120,000. The Trustees have some funds on hand and are seeking donations to complete the project. If you’d like to donate, you can talk to Dawn Williams, a Trustee, Pastor Keith, or simply bring your gift to the church and make sure it is marked Kitchen Project. Thank you for your interest and help. We look forward to the completed project.
GRIEF SHARE
Grief Share support group meets on Sundays at 6:30pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. For more information contact Jan Quenzer at 605-770-9316.
CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXES
Once again, our church is going to participate in the Christmas Shoe Box project that benefits people here in the Dakotas Conference. If you have some empty shoe boxes at home, please bring them to the church. And stay tuned for more information and for the Christmas Shoe Box tree to go up with shoe boxes ready to be taken and filled. Thanks!!
LITTLE FREE FOOD PANTRY
Our church Little Free Food Pantry continues to be a resource for individuals and families in our community. We stock it every day. We are currently accepting donations of non-perishable food items such as; cup of noodles, mac & cheese cups, breakfast cereal cups, granola bars and individual wrapped crackers. Donations can be brought to the church office.
VERSE FOR REFLECTION: 1 Peter 4:10-11
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
