VERSE FOR REFLECTION: 2 Timothy 1:6-7

For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.

MISSION OF THE MONTH

DWU Mission Trip

JANUARY “ONE THING”

Our January “One Thing” is diapers for In a Village, specifically sizes 4, 5, and 6. In a Village is a nonprofit that supports and assists expectant mothers, parents, and caregivers of young children in our community.

MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS NEEDED

Our next turn for delivering Meals-On-Wheels is Feb.12 through March 22. If you are willing to be involved in delivery during one of those weeks, or would like more information about what is involved, please contact Dave Mitchell, 605-999-8435, or the church office.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

Natalie will start a new bible study starting Sunday, Jan. 14th at 9am during Sunday School and Wednesday, Jan. 17th  at 7pm. We will be looking at Immerse Kingdoms and will run approximately 8-10 weeks (allowing for possible changes due to Easter events.)

SPECIAL SUNDAY

Human Relations Day is today, Sunday, January 14th. This offering helps offer refuge in times of disaster, promote justice, provide scholarships, reach out to the community, teach skills to encourage self-sufficiency and share the love of Jesus Christ with God’s people everywhere.

 OUR GOD GIVEN PURPOSE

To help our church regain a sense of purpose and vision for ministry in the community, the Church Council, and any interested church family, are invited to a retreat on Saturday, February 3rd at our church facility. This will be about a 4-hour experience of sharing, praying, and looking to who God is calling us to be. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending, if you have any questions, please talk to Pastor Keith.

SHROVE TUESDAY

Pancakes and Sausage are back! Tuesday, February 13th 11am-1pm and 4pm to 7pm. All you can eat for $10. Children under 5 eat for FREE. There will be a sign-up table in the gathering area before and after worship service. This event takes a village for its success! So please consider helping.

RESERVING SPACE

One of the great values of our church is that we want to be known as a gathering place for community groups or events that support our ministries or have a similar focus to what we do. This is why our church allows several groups to meet within our facility. If you need to use a space within our facility for a function or a gathering, it is important to call the church office and schedule your meeting with Tonya. This will ensure the space that you are requesting will be available and it also helps us to make sure we don’t double-book a space. Our open facility is just another way we let this community know we are “Downtown 4 Good!” Thank you!

LIFE, FAITH, & RECOVERY

Pastor Keith’s sermon series that span all of 2024 (but not every week). Pastor Keith has long believed that all of us as followers of Jesus, are in recovery. Recovery from our addiction to sin (or missing the mark of God’s desires) in our lives. Once a month during 2024, Pastor Keith will focus on the connection between the 12 steps of Recovery and Spirituality, and how all of us as disciples of Jesus can benefit from the 12 steps in our lives.

PRAYER & PURPOSE

Today, Sunday, January 14, 2024, we are starting a year of growing in prayer and reclaiming our purpose as a community of faith here in Mitchell. You are invited to join us on this journey with a Conference Wide prayer focus in which we’ll use the book Dynamite Prayer to help guide us as we seek God’s Breakthrough Presence in our church and in our lives.  Books are available in the church office.
